
Yadira has a B.A. in International Studies from Seattle University and an M.Ed. in Social & Comparative Analysis in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She served in Peace Corp as a primary and secondary English teacher in Bulgaria. She co-founded Sunset Spark to bring more fun and creative science classes to immigrant families. At Sunset Spark, she infuses culture and community into projects involving robotics, creative technology, and science.
Gaelen holds a B.S. and M.S. in computer science from the University of Central Florida. In his 10 years as a professional software engineer, he built useful things like medical language learning software, playful things like mobile games, and destructive things like weapon training systems. He started teaching experimental tech classes to K-8 students early on in his coding career. At Sunset Spark, he teaches kids, parents, and teachers to design, build, and code robots, video games, and lots of other creative technology projects.

Since inception, we’ve learned over 70 skills, ranging from beatboxing with the world champion to folding fitted sheets to shucking oysters with a marine ecologist.

Gina has a long and varied career path that includes (past and current): client relations, event planning, bartending instruction, biotech, public health, pre-K gymnastics, community organization, and every position in a restaurant. She is currently a working as the head of client relations for a biotech-focused investment bank and holds a B.A. from Hofstra University where she received a vanity degree just to get out of there.
